Some exciting news on former Skama members' new projects:
Greg and Brent's new project, Comma, with Andrew Paolini has released a demo that is now available! It features four rockin' songs recorded at Thumbprint Studio in Epping, NH. The tracks sound amazing but it's not the same experience as seeing them live - make sure you catch them soon!
Also Steve, Tristan, and Sam's new project, Fletcher Munson, with Andy Buslovich and Justin Brown has just recorded a three song demo with Matt Gilbert that should be available within the next couple weeks. It features one re-vamped, unreleased song originally written by Skamasutra that was played at some of Skama's last shows as well as two brand-new originals nobody's heard before. By the end of the month Fletcher Munson plans on begining booking performances - so make sure to check back for updates. Also F.M. just joined MySpace - there's nothing there yet but keep checking!

After five and a half years of entertaining the Northeast Skamasutra has decided to call it quits. Everyone was involved in making this decision and the vote was unanimous. There were many factors that were weighed to come to this conclusion. James has moved back to New York for personal reasons and isn't expecting to return to New Hampshire. That left Skamasutra without a guitarist and bassist and no one to train prospective members. Also Nick has decided to move to New York in June. This will leave Skamasutra without lead vocals and one-third of the permanent horn section. These line-up conflicts would make it impossible for Skamasutra to play at any of our upcoming performances and will make it reasonably unfeasible for Skamasutra to continue at a later time. With that reasoning in mind it was unanimously decided to end Skamasutra. However, all members will be pursuing other musical endeavors.
Nick and James have started a dance-influenced folk group called Fighting Windmills - ex Calliope. You can find them on MySpace here. Also Steve, Sam, and Tristan will be starting a new project together. More information about their project will be released as it becomes available.
Skamasutra would like to thank everyone who contributed to our success. All the families, friends, former members, fans, venues and bands that made our music possible and got it out there. We've had a lot of great times and will carry those memories with us always - wherever our personal lives may take us.
Although Skamasutra will no longer be performing together limited amounts of Skamasutra merchandise will be available while it lasts. Our two albums can be purchased at all Bullmoose Music locations, online, and via mail order - and yes we ship internationally! If you enjoyed Skamasutra please help us to support our new projects! Thanks!

Happy New Year everyone! Thanks to everybody who joined us last night for First Night in Portsmouth - we had a blast! Also, thanks to all who made last year such an awesome year for Skamasutra! The year in brief: we released our second album - which has sold hundreds of copies, performed forty shows including our first show in Pennsylvania, Old Port Fest in Portland, ME, the 27th Annual Pittsfield Hot Air Balloon Festival in Pittsfield, NH, the first annual Great Bay Music Festival in Dover, NH, live on WHEB, and First Night in Portsmouth, NH. We also nearly recouped the costs of "Let Come What May" - which is pretty impressive. All that in mind we'd like to make 2009 even better and we're kicking it off with a show in Durham, NH on January 30th at Ballard's. Come if you're able, we'd love to see you!
